Metropolitan Government Building

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building (in Japanese: Toukyou To Chousha, 東京都庁舎) is in Shinjuku and houses the headquarters of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government.  The building is very large and consists three structures.  The tallest of the buildings is "Tokyo Metropolitan Main building No.1" which is 48 stories tall and splits into two sections at the 33rd floor.  This building was completed in 1990 for a cost of about 1 billion US dollars (at that time).

The great thing about The Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building is that is has a FREE obervation deck! (well, acutally 2 decks).   The two panoramic observation decks, one in each tower on floor 45 are 202 meters (663 ft) high.  When the weather is just right you may be able to see, Tokyo Dome, Meiji Srhine, Tokyo Skytree and even Mt. Fuji!  The observatory is open pretty late so it is a romantic place for couples to view the night skyline also.
