Tokyo Skytree for Japan Travel Packages (JapanTravelPackages.com)

Tokyo Skytree (in Japanese; Tokyo Sukai Tsurii 東京スカイツリー) is a new television broadcasting tower and the new landmark of Tokyo.  It sits above the "Tokyo Skytree Town" and the Shopping Center Tokyo Solamachi near Asakusa. At a height of 634 meters it is the tallest building in Japan and the second tallest structure in the world at the time of its completion (2nd only to The Burj Khalifa in Dubai). A large shopping complex with aquarium is located at its base. The tower serves primarily as a television and radio broadcast site for the Kantō region (the area around Tokyo) because the older Tokyo Tower is surrounded by high-rise buildings and is no longer able to put out digital broadcasting coverage. Skytree was completed on 29 February 2012.
