The Hida Folk Village (in Japanese: 飛騨民俗村) is an "Open-Air Museum" in Takayama Japan that contains around 25 old farmhouses in the traditional architectural style of the mountainous regions of Japan. Most interesting are the"steeply" thatched and shingled roofs of these farmhouses (so that the heavy snow will slide off). A lot of the buildings are original structures that range in age from 100 to 500 years and have been moved to this museum. The Hida Folk Village is very picturesque and is visited by many Japanese tourists as well as international tourists and sits on a hillside overlooking the Takayama Valley.
