Nagano City (in Japanese; 長野) is the capital of Nagano Prefecture, Japan.  The city grew around the temple Zenko-ji, one of Japan's most important and popular temples. In 1998 the Olympic Winter Games were held in Nagano and some of the former olympic facilities can still be viewed around town.
