Established in 1982 by the family "Sakai", the Japan Ukiyo-e Museum (in Japanese: 日本浮世絵博物館, Nihon Ukiyo E Hakubutsukan) is a PRIVATELY owned Japanese art museum (kudos to private people everywhere who spend time and money supporting the great arts) in Matsumoto City, Nagano Prefecture Japan.  The museum specializes in Japanese woodblock prints.  The museums collections or based on family owned ukiyo-e works of art, mainly collected by Yoshitaka Sakai (1810-1869),  his son and grandson who were paper wholesalers.
